Graceland, Memphis
Elvis cologne, jackets, unshaved sideburns, blue suede shoes, and wigs. "The King of Rock" lifted his hips, swung his knees and legs around the stage, and outraged American ministers. The man was dangerous. He changed the rules. Elvis is loved for his music and stage performance. Tens of thousands of people mourn at the Estates.
Trips to Graceland Elvis Estate in Memphis
The people who visit Graceland leave an impression on me. Never have I seen so many tears. An annual procession through the estate and past Elvis' grave is held on the anniversary of his death. The largest gathering assembled on the twenty fifth anniversary in 2002 . One estimate was of 40,000 people in attendance, despite the heavy rain,
Other attractions at the Graceland Estate include a museum containing many Elvis artifacts, like some of his famous Vegas jumpsuits, awards, and gold records, Elvis' jet, the Lisa Marie, and Elvis' extensive auto collection. Recently Sirius satellite radio installed an all Elvis radio station on the grounds. Subscribers all over North America can hear Elvis music from Graceland around the clock.
Beware of Mississippi
Mississippi is home of the AFA, a highly racist organization. They will take your money, but watch your pockets, especially where you drive. News reports reveal unnatural statistics. Last year, 900 people were killed in traffic accidents. Drunk drivers are everywhere.
This year the number of drunk drivers is down, but that is because there aren't enough troopers out on the Mississippi roads to catch them. The locals in Mississippi believed that the way around the problem was to get rid of protection. Less arrests that way. Mississippi was on the bottom of the list of healthiest states. Smoking and obesity are the worst in the nation. Teenage pregnancy is on the rise. Over a hundred girls out of one thousand get pregnant before turning twenty. Violent crime is up.
Hardcore, radical Christian groups based out of Mississippi try to manipulate companies like Disney, Kraft, Ford Motors, and Target Stores, yet the local economy is one of the worst around the world. Instead of finding jobs, Christian groups in Mississippi are discriminating against nations. They speak out against trade, employment, and destroy jobs.
Avoid Mississippi. Memphis is where Elvis went. Mississippi treated the King like White Trash, when he was young. |
